Weight up!

Hello, hello, hello!

I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the planet!

I have been super busy and decided to take a week away from my computer to rest. I now feel alive and not so much like the zombie I was in February... and now March is almost over! Holy goodness where does the time go?

Speaking of 'holy goodness'... God is certainly showing us the love and we are totally loving Him back! I am in love with my new Bible and I look forward to reading my daily devotional every morning (with coffee and breakfast!) when I return from my daily dog walk.

Speaking of walks...

My 'daily dog walks' began almost exactly one year ago.

Almost exactly one year ago, I was tipping the scale at a whopping
140 pounds.

While some of you may be thinking 140 pounds really isn't that heavy... I have to remind you, I am only 5 feet tall and 140 lbs on this short girl is WAY too heavy.

I didn't even realize how truly, for lack of a better word, fat I was.

See when you are overweight and you don't realize it  don't acknowledge it, you begin to (forgive me) sink, lower and lower until you're sitting at the bottom of the ocean wishing you could swim to Wendy's to get a frosty and some fries, but you're so heavy you can't... You are stuck.

So you continue to sit, alone might I add, at the bottom of the ocean... Wishing to be skinny, praying to God to help you change, and still craving those darn french fries...

Until you see it...

The picture that changes EVERYTHING!

The picture that you so willingly posed in and smiled for... Not remembering that once a picture is taken, people often enjoy: A. posting them on social networking sites OR (the dreaded) B. Frame them and put them on display.

Here's my picture:

(Summer of 2009, I didn't think I was that big.)

THIS IS WHERE I DREW THE LINE!

I picked myself up off the floor, LOOKED in the mirror, and I said to myself, "Megan, you are 21, super fat, and something has to change PRONTO!".

So I changed.

I changed my eating habits. I changed my exercise regimen.

I changed my life.

IT WAS NOT EASY and I am not finished.

For now, I'll list a few changes I made...

1. I started eating breakfast. Oatmeal was my original meal of choice. I now, typically, eat a piece of rye bread with a little peanut butter or with a pouched egg on top.

2. I drink enough water to have to pee constantly. On a daily basis I drink between 2-3 liters.

3. I learned how to LOVE sweating, which for me was not easy. My day is not complete unless I am, at some point, drenched in sweat.

4. I walk every, single day (even during the winter months). I walk hard and I walk far. My walks are AT LEAST 30 minutes and I typically go about 4 miles.

5. Smaller plate, smaller portion. I LOVE FOOD. I love to eat and realized the bigger plate I have, the more food I would pile on. Easy fix, use a smaller plate!

6. No more fast food. I'll be completely honest, my favorite place to get a 'quick snack' used to be Taco Bell. *Insert grotesque barfing sound here.* At one point, I was eating a bean burrito almost every day. GROSS. This happens no more and I couldn't tell you the last time I visited a Taco Bell.

7. Do NOT buy bigger clothes. Being a 'new mom', I was convinced that I would never be small again and I needed up to date larger clothes. Worst idea ever. (Buying clothes that fit my newly giant body, made me feel like being big was okay.) Solution: I worked my ass off in the winter and rewarded myself in the spring with NEW, SMALLER CLOTHES
* Update: I really did this last spring and now those clothes are too big this spring! *

8. DO NOT GIVE UP. Easier said than done, but seriously it is the truth.

This is me today:
(Seriously, I took this picture about 30 minutes ago.)

That's all I have for now... I do plan on going more in depth on the following:
Healthier food choices I made and make on a daily basis.
How I am able to fit daily exercise into my routine with a toddler and 2 jobs.
How I'm keeping off the pounds and how you can too.

I do hope you find this post helpful, inspiring, and motivating.

Peace to you always.
